Outside the Lines
Outside the Lines is a temporary installation for the High Museum of Art in Atlanta, GA, which is designed to be an immersive environment that creates a range of sensory experiences for the blind, visually impaired, and neurodiverse. The steel tube structure was designed to support the live load from adults and kids at play while not exceeding the load capacity of or mechanically anchoring to the museum terrace below. Through coordination and collaboration with the fabricator and installer, ALTBLD, the steel connections were designed to be concealed and reversible so the installation could be erected and deconstructed in a day. Mock-ups and load testing were performed on the steel connections, plastic grating, and netting to ensure conformance with the loading requirements. Project lead at Silman.
