Bridgehampton Beach House
Bridgehampton Beach House is a new single-family residence on an oceanfront site. The property is within a FEMA flood zone, requiring deep foundations and breakaway construction below the flood elevation. The structural system above the flood elevation comprises wood joists supported by structural steel beams and columns coordinated to meet the tight tolerance requirements necessary for the large expanses of floor-to-ceiling glazing. To create the sculptural pool canopy with a reflecting pool roof, steel plate fins, cantilevered from an interior grid of steel beams, were spaced around the perimeter, each with unique dimensions coordinated with the architect. Project lead at Silman.
