Amant Foundation
Amant is 21,000 SF of public and private space for the arts across three blocks in Brooklyn, NY. The construction of the campus included three new buildings and the adaptive reuse of an existing warehouse. The warehouse structure remained largely intact except for repositioning the central girder line columns and reconstructing the street-facing entrance. The new building, neighboring the warehouse, is a two-story load-bearing CMU structure supporting slab-on-deck and steel framing and includes a double-height gallery space. CMU was the preferred backup for the rotating brick and galvanized steel bar facade. The two buildings across the street are architecturally exposed concrete structures supporting cast-in-place concrete floors and long-span deck at the roof. The two buildings are connected via a short walkway covered by cantilevered structural honeycomb panels. Project lead at Silman.
