Amagansett Beach House is a new single-family residence on a hilltop site overlooking the water. The angular geometry, partly a response to the strict zoning envelope of the site, created an opportunity for dramatic structural moves. The second floor wing is hung from two deep steel beams above the roof line that are supported by a story deep steel truss cantilevered from a board formed concrete stair core at one end while tapering to a single steel column support at the other end. The lower floors step with the gently sloped hill side to the board formed concrete carport and entrance. Project lead at Silman.
